Extensive VHFHSZ — Class A mandatory on most properties. Wood shake conversion is the biggest demand driver. Steep hillside lots need specialized installation. DaVinci composite slate and standing-seam metal popular.

Orinda's housing stock spans 5% pre-1940, 20% 1940-1959, 45% 1960-1979. Architectural styles range from 1950s-60s California ranch in Sleepy Hollow and Glorietta to 1920s-40s cottages in Orinda Village. Each era and style presents different roofing requirements — from material compatibility to structural considerations. Our crews know what to expect before they arrive on site.
Orinda's hillside terrain and proximity to wildland areas place it firmly in a high fire-severity zone, with hot, dry summers and seasonal Diablo winds increasing fire risk. Composite shingles with high thermal resistance, such as GAF Timberline HDZ, perform well in these conditions while providing 130 MPH wind resistance for winter storms.
Orinda features large-lot homes with Craftsman, ranch, and contemporary styles set among mature oaks and rolling hills, with median home prices exceeding $2.2 million. Many of these homes are approaching or have passed the 20-30 year mark for their original roofing, creating demand for replacement with modern materials that offer better energy efficiency and longevity.
The City of Orinda Building Department enforces strict fire-safe construction standards including Class A roofing, ember-resistant vents, and defensible space requirements. Hamilton Exteriors (CSLB #1078806) handles all permit applications for Orinda roofing projects, ensuring compliance with local building codes and California Title 24 energy requirements.
Roofing Across Orinda Neighborhoods
Local planning starts with the site, neighborhood context, access, and applicable city review.
Glorietta
Glorietta homeowners frequently choose Hamilton Exteriors for roofing. Extensive VHFHSZ — Class A mandatory on most properties. With Orinda's Summer average 87°F — slightly cooler than deeper-inland CCC from Caldecott corridor marine influence, material selection in Glorietta requires local expertise.
Sleepy Hollow
In Sleepy Hollow, homes are predominantly 1920s-40s cottages in Orinda Village. Wood shake conversion is the biggest demand driver. Our crews are familiar with Sleepy Hollow's architectural character and building requirements.
Orinda Village
Orinda Village homes often feature original roofing materials that have endured decades of Orinda's climate extremes. Our team assesses each roof's condition and recommends the most cost-effective solution, from targeted repairs to full replacement.
Orinda Country Club
Storm damage is common in Orinda Country Club during winter months. We provide prompt inspections and work directly with insurance companies to streamline the claims process.
Claremont Hills
Heritage homes in Claremont Hills often need specialized roofing approaches that respect the original architecture while meeting modern California building codes.

The team dis an excellent job on our roof. Carlos and his team are punctual, communicative and kept the worksite clean throughout the project. There was a slight delay in the beginning but the whole process felt smooth and stress free. Alex was generous enough to add in extra service worth $759. Highly recommended, honest roofing work.

They offered a reasonable price for my roof replacement, and overall I’m satisfied with the work. The main issue was that it took quite a while to finish because of the permit process. At one point, I was worried that the roofing materials left at the property might be stolen, so I texted them about it. They responded to my message right away, which I appreciated, and luckily nothing was stolen. Overall, the price was fair, they were responsive when I had concerns, and the project was completed.
